The fine art of collage

February 4-6th, 2022...sees Insane's Ged Wells host guided collage-making as part of a weekend of creative workshops with Beacons Creative Retreats.

Taking place at the luxury Gliffaes Hotel in the heart of the stunning Brecon Beacons in Wales, Ged's four-hour workshop is one of many taking place over three days; others include writing, art, cooking, leather-working and carving - all led by experts in their field.

You can choose to spend the day, or immerse yourself for the entire weekend - it's up to you.

At Ged's workshop you will learn...

• Basic craft techniques
• Tips on gathering imagery, photography & ephemera
• Selecting other mixed media, such as papers, fabrics and adhesives
• How to edit your chosen materials
• How to form your composition
• Wider applications of collage

From the French 'coller' meaning 'to stick together', collage is an accessible technique of art-making by assembling selected images or materials to create wholly individual works of art.

It's an experimental journey of discovery, blending the simple hand-crafting of shapes, colours and forms through the playful process of relaxed, meditative visual editing.
